given the timing and unless there were any likely occupational exposures, I would think that it represents active sensitisation (AS) – although I havent had any patients that have developed AS to it

You should also test with stannous oxalate. Tin allergy from stannous fluoride has become a problem over the last 2 years. Increasingly, stannous fluoride is replacing sodium fluoride in toothpastes.

Hi Ian – yes, I see occasional cases, possibly more nowadays. Important to test with the glue as ethylcyanoacrylate is often negative on patch tests. Cyanoacrylates (superglues) don’t tend to Xr with methacrylates. They’re also used to stick on fake… Read more»

Many thanks, the orthopaedic surgeon has replied saying that they can use a custom made total ankle replacement or a plate with no nickel, cobalt, or chromate if he wants fusing.

The ESCD has de Groot for its for members. Contact Dermatitis is also available online for ESCD members.
